Founded in Japan in 2004 by director Gen Takahashi, Grand Kafe Pictures (formerly known as ‘Grand Cafe Pictures’) is a production company that produces and distributes films in Japan and for the international market. The company also manages actors and publishes music.
To date, Grand Kafe Pictures has produced six feature films that were released nationwide in Japan. These titles include Charon (2004), Confessions of a Dog (2005), An Ordinary Opinion (2012) and The Court of Zeus (2014). Confessions of a Dog won second place at Japan Cuts in New York City in 2009, and, that same year, DVDs of the film sold out in the United Kingdom.
Grand Kafe Pictures has offices in both Tokyo and New York. The company’s core members are director and president Gen Takahashi, producer Yayoi Machida, and New York manager Daniel Nevitt, who is a screenwriter and head of theinternational division.
